Konstantine (Gus) Janulis, 89, passed peacefully in his sleep on Monday, April 10. Baptized as Konstantine Janulis, Gus was born in Newark and grew up working in the family deli business there – the Roseville Deli, where he developed the personality to be constantly on the go throughout his life. After serving in the merchant marines and army during World War II, he settled down to own and operate the Roseville Deli in Newark. One of his trademark phrases as a business owner and personally in life was, "How much off for cash?" Gus loved to fix and maintain his boat and fish in Barnegat Bay, NJ, where he developed a reputation for saying, "Get the net. Get the net." He was also an avid photographer and took many pictures for the church community (back then Ss. Constantine & Helen), where he served on the parish council. Predeceased by his first wife, Rose (Spiridon) Janulis, he leaves behind their three children (Ted and his wife Jenise, Nick and his wife Effie, and Katherine Foley and her husband Tim), and nine grandchildren (Dean, Tom, Cali, Tina, George, Katie, Maura, Ciara and Erin). Gus is also survived by his sister, Helen Vasiliades, and her husband Lee, and is predeceased by his second wife, Antigone Staikos Janulis, and his brother, Stanley Janulis.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Ss. Nicholas, Constantine and Helen Iconography fund are preferred.
